Description

The new Inland Transport Framework Law establishes the “right to information” for users. The Land Transport Directorate (DTT) has set up a working group (with CETE d’Aix, UTP, FNTR, GART, SNCF, etc.) to propose recommendations aimed at professionalising and harmonising the communication of intercity networks. The observation: one-off promotional actions (since 1975) have had little effectiveness and lack sustainability, leaving vehicles, stops and schedules poorly identified. The group recommends consistency around three essential products: the timetable sheet by relationship (standard format tested Aix–Salon), the signage of stopping points (standardised sticker type C6, “far” and “close-up” information, precise formats and typography) and the exterior/interior signage of vehicles. A glossary of ~200 terms standardizes the vocabulary. The cost ratio and shows that the investment is modest in relation to the stakes (network: ~3,500 companies, 35,000 vehicles, 350 million passengers/year) and calls on authorities and organisers to engage in a sustainable information policy.
