Description
This November 2000 market-research study evaluated public reaction to Centro’s current A2 bus-timetable poster (map + line diagram) versus a proposed redesign (larger-print timetable, more detailed line diagram, no area map). Face-to-face interviews at selected Primeline and Line 33 stops yielded 389 respondents (67% female), who were frequent bus users (70% travel by bus five+ days/week). Most wait 2–10 minutes at stops. Key findings: 74% preferred the proposed design, citing clearer layout, larger print, brighter colours and a better line diagram; only 7% preferred the current poster, mainly for its map. The current timetable print was judged too small by 54% versus 9% for the proposed (89% said proposed print was about right). Opinion on the area map was mixed: 45% found it useful but 50% found it not particularly or not at all useful. 46% never consult the shelter timetable; 55% had held a pocket timetable though many discarded it. Conclusion: the proposed poster is substantially preferred, though some concern remains about loss of the area map and timetable complexity.
