Description
Nexus is redesigning Metro station timetable posters effective late May 2018 to improve legibility, journey-time information and ease of finding trains. The new bus-style format uses automated production to reduce cost, matches regional bus and ferry timetables, and allows quicker updates for short-notice changes. Key features include separate Yellow and Green line timetables on a single poster, black text on white, horizontal time listings, route diagrams showing journey times to most stations, and an at-a-glance panel for frequencies and first/last trains; fonts follow accessibility policies. A three-week consultation attracted 155 individual responses plus group feedback; most respondents approved (90% preferred the look, 83% said it’s better for finding times, 86% for journey durations). Changes from feedback: retain some peak-service departures where average waits are six minutes or more, keep the split-line format, increase minimum font size from 12pt to 14pt, and remove the separate ‘last train’ box with times shown in the grid. Accessibility concerns (glare on screens) will be monitored.
