Description
The October–November 2001 study (RSO01205) evaluated passenger reactions to Corridor Timetables to determine whether they represent a significant improvement and whether key elements are understood. FDS International conducted 280 face-to-face interviews at stops with corridor timetables and 11 in-depth interviews for London Buses Strategy and Policy. About one in five respondents had previously used the timetables; four out of five of these found them helpful, and non-users reacted positively when shown the format. Two-thirds supported showing frequencies instead of listing every bus, citing greater simplicity and readability. Ninety percent clearly understood the Corridor Map. Task-based testing showed strong results: 80% could identify bus routes from the timetable and roughly 75% could find when the next bus was due; about half could accurately identify journey times. Overall, Corridor Timetables were judged a significant improvement over current timetables, though minor layout refinements were recommended.
