Description
The Brussels Design Centre presented “Bus Tram Info,” an exhibition sponsored by the Administration of Transports to introduce a new national passenger-information system to be rolled out across Belgium. The system comprises line diagrams, timetables and redesigned town/area plans, plus standardized poles and vandal-resistant information panels designed for environmental, maintenance and accessibility needs (including the blind). The exhibit launched a six-week public consultation and school outreach. Key design decisions include selecting the Galfra typeface for legibility, using mixed upper/lower case, specified letter spacing and adhesive-lettering practices, and distinct route-diagram conventions for directions and interchanges. Timetables are arranged horizontally with clear indicators for days of operation, school terms and holidays; maps favor simplified drawings over excessive realism. Practical standards cover pole shape and yellow coloring for visibility, lighting at stops for safety and identification, anti-vandal fixings, modular valves for easy info changes, and maintenance guidelines
