Description

This standard specifies the visual elements and rules for bus, coach and taxi stop signage. It defines components—stop flags, stop name panels, ‘Towards’ panels, E-tiles (route tiles), special message panels and point-letter discs—and their prescribed order: flag, stop name, towards, then service information. Typography must use Johnston (NJ Font) with defined sizes; a palette of corporate colours and NCS references is provided for different modes (bus, night bus, coach, tour, taxi). Service information rules cover numerical ordering of route numbers, Night Buses shown after day services, E-tile sizing/margins, and options when space is limited (combined panels or paired route numbers). The document lists approved contractions for place names and layout/specifications for special messages, night-bus panels, station route indicators, coach Q-tiles, tour-bus panels and taxi-rank flags. Point-letter discs identify stops within schemes. For applications not covered, contact the TfL Graphics team (corporatedesign@tfl.gov.uk).
